Where to Get a Healthy Bite to Eat in RI

Everyone can relate to the difficulty of having to balance healthy eating with wanting to go out to eat and indulge in some delicious food and drink. Not to mention, going out to eat can save you from another night of cooking, which can become tedious throughout the week if you are not someone who likes to “chef it up” in the kitchen! If you are someone who loves to go out to eat, whether it is visiting your favorite restaurants or trying something new out, the good news is that there are some great, healthy options throughout Rhode Island where you can feel good about the food you’re eating while you enjoy it!

One of our favorite healthy eating spots is Plant City in Providence, which has something for everyone on the menu, regardless of what you’re in the mood for! If you have never been, Plant City should be next on your bucket list.

Plant City is the world’s first healthy plant-based vegan food hall and marketplace.

At Plant City, you can dine in at one of their four restaurants and three bars, all created by internationally acclaimed Chef, Matthew Kenney. Plant City also has a coffee bar and a bakery, as well as a marketplace where you can shop if you are looking to bring any goods home! Even if you are not Vegan, you are guaranteed to leave Plant City in awe after enjoying their wide variety of menu items. Check out some more information about their four restaurants, as well as their speakeasy!

At Plant City, you can visit New Burger, Make Out, Double Zero, Besina, 345, or their coffee bar and bakery.

New Burger is an American bistro & bar that is plant-based and located on the first floor. Their comfortable booths and variety of tables wrap around a craft beer bar that is perfect for viewing any sporting events! New Burger serves classic comfort foods that are elevated with the freshest ingredients into scratch-made dishes that are accessible to anyone, no matter what age you are!

In the mood for something lighter? Check out Make Out which features a build-your-own-bowl ordering counter and a wide variety of nutritious plant-based and vegan food. At Make Out, you can enjoy superfood smoothies, toasts, wraps, and sandwiches, as well as baked treats, coffees, and teas. Make Out is also located on the first floor with a gorgeous view of the Providence River!

Double Zero is your new go-to for a delicious pizza. Double Zero is named for the 00 grade of flour that is used in traditional Italian pizza. Double Zero features creative plant-based and vegan Italian dishes and a wine list that features organic and bio-dynamic wines. You can find Double Zero on the second floor of Plant City, with a wrap-around bar that overlooks their wood fired pizza hearth, as well as views of the Providence River and skyline.

Taco Tuesdays will never be the same again once you’ve visited Besina (yes, you’ll need to make it a weekly tradition!) Besina is named for the Spanish words “kiss” and “kitchen” and offers Mexican-inspired plant-based cuisine that is crafted with love and intention. Besina is centered around a wrap-around island bar with an extensive trove of tequila and mezcal and has a window-lit dining room with views of the Providence River and skyline. Plus, Besina has a wildly good cocktail menu – perfect for tequila lovers!

For a fun night out, check out 345, a speakeasy and mixology bar that is located next door to the main Plant City building. This intimate bar features a seating area that has a cozy home-like feel and serves creative small plates and innovative drinks. Their rotating menu features and ever-changing array of eclectic concoctions, fresh mocktails, and elevated snacks.
