The Fall season is arguably one of the best times of year to spend outdoors and enjoy some fun activities with the family. The fall weather is not too hot, not too cold, and perfectly crisp outside! While everyone is getting back into their regular routines and the kids are back to school, it is important to ensure that we are still making time for some family fun.
If you are looking for some ideas on how to make the most of the Fall season with your family this year, check out some of our favorite ways to get into the Fall spirit!

1- Go apple picking.
An absolute must every Fall season is to go apple picking with the family. Visit your local apple orchard for a fun day of apple picking, hayrides, visiting the petting zoo, and of course going home with some freshly baked apple cider donuts. A day of apple picking is not only a fun way to get outdoors, but it is also an awesome way to make some memories and truly feel like you are in the Fall season!
2 – Enjoy a hike with beautiful foliage views.
There are all different types of hikes that you can check out throughout New England, whether you are looking for a beginner hike, intermediate, or more advanced one. Regardless of your skill level when it comes to hiking, you should definitely take some time to enjoy the gorgeous foliage views that the Fall season has to offer. There is truly nothing more beautiful than the views of the bright, colorful leaves as they change during the seasonal transitions!
3 – Check out a pumpkin patch.
Another great way to spend a weekend day is by visiting a pumpkin patch with your family. This is a great opportunity to get some new family photos with a stunning backdrop and pick out some pumpkins that you can bring home and decorate your house with.
4 – Carve the pumpkins.
After getting home from the pumpkin patch, your next step is to obviously carve a few of them! This is an extremely fun activity that allows your kids to truly showcase their creativity. Make sure that you are prepared ahead of time with all the necessary supplies, and that you set up the area to carve in a place where your furniture is protected – the process is a messy one! Once your pumpkins are carved, assess where they should be placed for decoration, such as on your front doorstep so guests can be greeted with some fun and cute décor.
5 – Camp in your backyard.
If weather permits, set up a campsite in your backyard with some tents, air mattresses, and sleeping bags, and have a family camp night! While you are camping, if you have a fire pit you can set up a fire, make some s’mores, and enjoy each other’s company and the beautiful Fall season.
6 – Visit a haunted corn maze.
Looking for something spooky to get into the Halloween spirit? Check out some local haunted corn mazes that are throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island and prepare for a night that you will not forget! Make the most of your trip to the haunted corn maze by stopping for some hot chocolate and treats on the way.
7 – Try a new fall recipe.
On a chillier day, make the most of it by trying a new fall recipe that you have been eyeing! This is a fun family activity that can allow everyone to pitch in and try the finished product together. There are tons of different fall recipes available, whether you are looking for something savory or sweet. Make sure you decorate your home for the fall season before carving to really get in the mood!
